TDM900 : Adjusting the suspensions

Information from the User's Manual.
The standard setup is made for an average rider (around 74Kg) with an average riding style, on a regular road and at normal speed.
Obviously you'll need some more personal setup, depending on the actual bike load (solo/duo/fully loaded), riding style, tarmac aspect and required comfort.

Tips
• Always have your suspensions with homogeneous setup on preload, rebound damping and compression.
• Make small modifications on the setup followed by a road test, and write down the previous setup, the new setup and the final result.
• Read the Ohlins Manual for more information on suspension setup.

- 5 : standard.
- 9 : maximum (hard).

Rebound damping

(image)Adjusting positions
Turn the adjusting knob (1) fully in direction (a).
Then set position in direction (b) :
- 3 clicks out : maximum (hard).
- 12 clicks out : standard.
- 20 clicks out : minimum (soft).

Compression damping

(image)Adjusting positions
Turn the adjusting knob (1) fully in direction (a).
Then set position in direction (b) :
- 1 click out : maximum (hard).
- 11 clicks out : standard.
- 12 clicks out : minimum (soft).

Always check the total number of clicks on your own shock absorber before adjusting it.
Due to production variations on the shock absorber the standard number of clicks as quoted on the User's Manual may be different.
In that case apply a corresponding ratio.

The correct way of proceeding :
1 - un-tighten the adjusting knob to the minimum - direction (b).
2 - tighten the adjusting knob to the maximum - direction (a) - and count the number of clicks.
3 - un-tighten the adjusting knob to the desired setting - direction (b).

If you want a standard rebound damping setting and count a total 80 clicks, then you'll have to un-tighten the adjusting knob with :
11 x 80 / 20 = 44 clicks.
